My name is Drew Petersen and I believe in living life with passion as my compass.

I use my career to share that passion, inspire others to do the same, and advocate for what I care about most—mental health, our planet, and burritos.

My greatest passion? I am on a mission to change the culture of the outdoor community to prioritize and honor mental health.

I do so through a lot of different avenues. On any given day, it’s usually some combination of the below:

Athletically, I share my adventures through…

  • skiing. Nowadays, “professional skier”—which I think is best described as being a good ambassador of the sport, community, and lifestyle of skiing—is what I classify as my “day job.” That’s a really fun sentence to say and I pinch myself every time I do.

  • running. In the summer, I run 100-mile ultramarathons in the same mountains I ski all winter. I tell a lot of stories about running because it’s really fun and meaningful to me.

Creatively, I tell stories through…

  • words. My writing has appeared in Outside, SKI Magazine, Powder Magazine, The Ski Journal, Freeskier Magazine, Backcountry Magazine, and more.

  • moving pictures. I started with just skiing in front of the cameras, but now I also produce and direct my own film projects. My recent film, “Ups and Downs,” was a groundbreaking exposé that opened space for conversation on mental health in the ski world.

Publicly, I captivate audiences through…

  • speaking. As a speaker, I captivate audiences with my harrowing, yet relatable, human experiences in a manner that moves them to action within their own lives.

  • film screenings. Sometimes, my speaking engagements include screening my film “Ups and Downs.” In addition, I am the Executive Director of the Quality Ski Time Film Tour in partnership with Salomon.
